The Comfort Suites Gallup East Route 66 and I-40 consistently receives positive feedback for its cleanliness, comfortable rooms, and veteran-themed decor, particularly its lobby displays. However, recent reviews highlight concerns about inconsistent maintenance, temperature issues, and limited breakfast options, alongside occasional service issues.
My family of 5 (me, hubby, and 3 kids, 15-13-9) traveled from slidell to San Marcos for a wedding in June and stayed in multiple hotels along the way, This place was one of them. . We stayed in a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed. This comfort suites was the nicest one we’ve stayed at out of the three we’ve stayed at so far this vacation. The front desk person was so nice and helpful. The elevator actually worked. The beds were super comfortable. Even the sofa bed/ It was quiet- no musty smell. Breakfast was amazing. The lady kept it stocked the entire time. The choices were great also. I felt safe at this hotel. I would 100% stay here again.
We went to a convention at red rock State Park nearby and the hotel was very close. Morning, breakfast with standard fair, but had on-site staff keeping the entire area tidied and food constantly supplied. The lobby and the hallway downstairs as well as the meeting room are museums, or at least should be called such to honor Navajo code talkers, as well as medal of honor winners. How such collections came to be at this tiny little motel alongside I 40 in Route 66 I may never know, but it was impressive and humbling.
We checked in around 7pm in June, first thing we noticed is the hallway is warmer than it is outside and its in the 90s outside. Then we get to our room and they left the heat on at 72; so, our room was easily 90+. We turned the air on and after 3 hours the room is still stupid warm to the fact my wife went to the car and grabbed our portable fan. She came back up to the room and stated it was cooler outside then in our room. Then I went to plug my cpap in and the the plugs by the bed are shorting out and the plug does not sit in the socket firmly. Ended up moving the nightstand and unplugging the stupid accessible plugs so I could use my medical device. I would say if you want cheap, clean, hot and a potential fire hazard than stay here.
The person at the front desk checking me in was so uninviting I truly didn't want to stay there but I was tired and needed to rest. Check out time was 11:00 and they had someone come around to the rooms and knock and wake people up at 9:00 a.m. with no explanation why. This happened at every room because I heard other people talking about it also. The wonderful breakfast they brag about soaked through my plate it was so greasy. Those small omelets you couldn't even tell what they were by looking at them or tasting them. They served corned beef hash out of a can.
I live in Gallup but needed a room. I was so impressed with all their veterans memorbilia. Very clean nice rooms. Breakfast was good. I didn't realize how nice and big the rooms were. Very awesome.
The rooms were very nice like the fact the beds were soft and the pillow out of this world along with that but the construction had me question some stuff. Along with the pool being close and what was also strange my family thought she encountered someone in the room walking by but who knows right and I even thought someone was trying to enter the room or thought someone was in the room as well and the TV works fine but the changing of the channels was eh sometimes would work but not really and the breakfast is great lots of choices like the lady who runs it very nice and welcoming accommodating.
For the most part a clean and quiet hotel. It was pretty busy when we got here by the looks of the cars in the lot. They do need to update their appliances and some of the furniture. Our microwave was a 700 watt output which was really weak. Our bed was comfortable but while untucking the comforter I noticed that the bottoms of the beds were tattered and the foam was exposed. Not good looks but nothing seemed dirty and no signs of insects so it was fine for now.
This is a pretty clean hotel, service was great but the toilet handle needs to be replaced cause when you push it down, it stays down and tank won't refill with water for next flush, I had to open the lid and keep "fixing" it every time we flushed. Also found long auburn hair on the sheets. Maybe they fell from the person who made the beds. The dresser was pretty beat up with scratches and a corner piece of the fake wood missing. Other than that service was great and I would stay there again. The beds are really firm and slept pretty good.
Pleasantly surprised, a clean and well maintained property at a reasonable price. I used to be loyal to the big green hotel corp but $200+ after tax for a short notice reservation in a non resort city is getting out of touch. Going to be staying at Comfort Suites from here on.
Excellent professional hospitality I even felt slight royalty (could be my Combat Veteran status) but still premium service I highly recommend. Now as an added delight of mine the Young fellow Travis was kind enough to allow me in their magnificent Electric Piano w/foot peddles. I’m sure glad I picked this place to stay what a more than glorious experience this was a million thank you’s!
