Guests report highly inconsistent experiences at the Econo Lodge Gallup, ranging from regarding newly managed rooms as clean and comfortable to critical concerns about the facility's physical condition, maintenance, and security deposit policies.
Looks nothing like the pictures. There is a massive crater in the roof on the right side of the building. Scammers asking for $50 cash deposit or else you can’t check in. The sign is gone. Everything. Gone. The sign is now a tarp. Disgusted. Parking lot, empty. When we got there, we couldn’t even check-in because they didn’t have access to the reservations. Never had a worse experience with a hotel in my life. Booked somewhere else and called corporate. idgaf
The WORST place I’ve ever attempted to stay. After a check in and going to my room, I found it in complete disrepair. There were screws, empty bottles, and cardboard pieces left in the bathroom. The phone was missing in the room. The wall was unpainted and the room clearly was not meant to be used by guests. When i returned to the front desk, nobody was there. I called the number 4 times for the hotel and could hear the phone ringing in the managers office but nobody would answer. I even knocked on the management door and did not receive an answer. There were zero options I had, as it was an unhabitable room and nobody from the hotel could help me out. I stayed elsewhere and asked this hotel for a refund. They refused and then sent demeaning messages via my hotel.com booking that said “since it looks as though as you cant read, no R-E-F-U-N-D”. This is beyond disrespectful behavior. Additionally, the advertised continental breakfast and EV charging were removed. And finally, the outdoor flood lights were flashing like a strobe light and would have given me a seizure if I had stayed there for the night. Stay far away from here and the terrible “new management”
I had made a reservation online and the first night we got there. They weren’t even up at the front. I had to call them which they were in the laundry room and the gentleman did give me my key fast and didn’t ask me for a deposit then the second I reserved the room again and on the request I put I could keep the room, but if they could clean it, which when I got there, the lady had said that she didn’t know if I wanted the room cleaned or not so she had new towels and changed the trash, but when my boyfriend had went into the room, he noticed that the towels weren’t changed. There was no toilet paper and the pillows and the floor were still dirty so he had went to the front and told him about it and they asked him where the deposit was right away and then all of a sudden they had attitude so when I got there, I asked her what the problem was, and she said that my boyfriend looked like a drug addict and that he went to his car to grab a bag and looks suspicious… I stay at a lot of motels and I didn’t know it was a problem to get your bags from your vehicle and why is it OK for them to judge we paid for our room it wasn’t like we didn’t so she told me that I could leave and get my stuff….Overall, one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed at.
5 stars is crazy work for this place, this place is run down and there is no breakfast. They’re clearly not ready to be open under this new management. I had to call and ask if they could make some coffee in the morning. Go a bit further west and stay at the econo lodge out in Holbrook AZ-that place deserves 5 stars. I wouldn’t pay more than $30 for a room here again.
The sign outside "Under New Management" , so if that is the reason for the recent work in the hallways and rooms, then all I can say is GREAT JOB! Very nice accommodations, for sure. I could have bounced a quarter off of the bed, it was made so nicely. It was a very comfortable stay!
I rented here for 2 weeks. Great price, but crappy service. The owners will set u up to keep ur security deposits. They said i broke a towel rack. When it broke when I played my towels on it. Who ever inspected this doesn't know how to do a good job. The waffle machine was never washed. There is poop all over the parking lot. I tried to over look these things but DONT RENT HERE!!!!
Booked a free night at this location using Choice points as it offered free breakfast. Security light in the parking lot was flashing. Room was decent (vinyl floors rather than sketchy carpet) but AC/heater in room had loud, not steady rattling, and several trains rumbled by through the night (fortunately didn't blow their horn). Went to the breakfast room at 7:30 the next morning and it was dark. Went to the front desk to ask what was up. Desk clerk came out of the dark back room wearing shorts and a t shirt, hair standing up all over, obviously just woke up. He said his delivery guy didn't show up the previous day so there was no breakfast. I call BS. Can't believe they didn't have ANYTHING available to put out. Another guest did get a cup of coffee but other than that, nothing. Will not stay here again. There were only three other cars in the parking lot - guess that should have tipped us off.
PROS: -Rooms are ok, it's cheap. -They have smoking rooms. -They allow pets CONS: -They allow pets and dogs bark -Not for family. -Continental breakfast was either a bagel or toast and they put out a pitcher of orange Tang , not Orange juice. SMH -Walls are so thin you can hear someone fart. -You can tell it's 40$ a night when you pull up. -ice machine and vending machines are broken. Other than that it's good for a night - -
On the 16th of November we booked a room on choice hotels for eco lodge. Our card was billed and once we showed up the front desk informed me that my fiance wasn't on my choice rewards account, so they are not going to allow us to stay. I said so our card won't be billed right? Wrong, not only did they bill our card but they are refusing to reimburse our card even though they billed it and we did not stay there. They were the ones that told us that we could not stay there and then billed our card. Not only would I never stay here again! I would not recommend this hotel because they do not respond to their customer's and they will try to rob you.
We always plan travel so we stay in Navajo Nation and can put our money into the communicates we want to support. The person checking us in on 9/17, made me feel uncomfortable, unsafe, and unwelcomed. The interaction was through a check-in, in lobby, around 11:00pm. The body language and verbal cues given by the check-in attendant were very dark and ambiguous. I had to finally ask him two questions: 1) Are you okay? 2) Do you even want me here? He would not answer question mostly, or he would ignore me or repeat odd phrases over and over again. Honestly, this person clearly cannot separate his emotions from his work, and in this line of business, people should feel welcomed. Ultimately, I did not feel safe due to his ambiguous and unwelcoming choices/actions. I hope he can get whatever help, training, or assistance he needs to be a better representation of this business. I would not recommend to solo- female travelers.
