The Super 8 by Wyndham Gallup receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its affordability and cleanliness, while others report significant issues with service, cleanliness, and safety. Recent reviews highlight recurring problems including long check-in times, rude staff, unclean rooms, and questionable safety conditions.
We had a horrible experience with this location. After driving a 10-hour trip, we pulled in to check in. There was no one at the desk with a ring doorbell and a note by a phone saying to press 0 to call someone. For over 45 minutes we tried calling and pressing the doorbell. We called their corporate office who also tried to reach them for over 15 minutes and gave up. My son finally found the owner/manager talking with a cleaning person in a room. She was extremely rude and blamed us for not calling her and that she was only away for 15 minutes. Do not stay at this place unless you have no other choice.
If you can handle bad neighborhoods and trains running every 30 minutes outside your window, and want to have a low price, then this is the place for you. The staff were very nice and helpful, especially when my key suddenly stopped working and I was locked out of my room. The dip in the floor was interesting, it made the refrigerator door hard to open...never seen that before. The sheets were clean. The bathroom was adequately clean. Thankfully, New Mexico is an open carry state, but I still ordered Door Dash.
Worst hotel ever!!! Hot as hell. My kids had to wear wash cloths to cool off to sleep. My dog was so overheated it is ridiculous. Breakfast? Yeah crap. Nothing else. Snake in the pool. Ice machine out of order 135 degress in the hall. Dirty wet wash rag on the sink when we got here and it was dirty and left there. The coffee pot was soooooooo gross. No elevator which wasn’t stated. They did this because be had a dog well we paid the freaking deposit!!!! We paid 200 for a 100 dollar room because of the deposit for the dog! Would never recommend
Racist hotel owner period . Price was advertised at $55. My wife and I showed up to the property to make sure it was safe before booking a room. This happen between the hours of 9-945pm 6/16/2026 The front desk women heard discussing and we decided to stay. She immediately changed the room rate to $1000+ per night (check photo). She said she didn’t want to give the room up for $53 dollars. We didn’t not argue we weren’t drunk im just a black man (navy veteran and this is the thanks i get with my trying we left about 10 minutes later she changed the price back to $53. Absolutely racist
The beds were made and it was straightened up but not clean. You can see from the picture I provided what the bedskirt had on it. We found an empty redbull can behind the nightstand. Only stayed a couple days but my kids and I ended up with bugbites that itched. Breakfast was subpar if you ask me with very little room to sit as the front hallway is converted into a dining room for breakfast. Its OK but you get what you pay for. We needed a place to stay as we were in town for funeral service. Security key doors don't work the best. If you keep you phone close to your key card it will make the key card not work and you have to go get it reprogrammed. Kind of annoying if you're on the opposite side of the building when you figure this out. Front desk people/owners don't seem happy to be there so not very friendly. If you just need a place to crash this place works, but I wouldn't stay at another Super 8 if I didn't have to based on my first stay with Super 8.
The hotel really deserves its 2 stars. There were a few big problems during my stay: The AC is very noisy: If you turn it on, you cannot sleep because of the noise. If you turn it off, you cannot sleep because the room gets too hot and stuffy. The railway: There are tracks nearby. Trains start running at night and the noise wakes you up. The towels: They were dirty and had a very strong smell of bleach. It feels like they tried to bleach them instead of washing them properly. Breakfast area: The tables for breakfast are located right next to the entrance door, which is not comfortable. If you have the chance, it is much better to pay $20 more and book a better hotel.
I try not to leave negative reviews often, but in this case it seemed necessary. I'll separate the good from the bad and include some pics for proof. First, the good. It was easy to find, the front was well lit, and the price was very affordable. Now for the bad: It is located directly next to what appears to be a boarded up gas station. There was what appeared to be an unhoused woman sleeping on a table in the lobby. Not all of the parking areas are well lit, use your discretion as I did see several people walking around the lot. The back door that I was instructed to use to access my room does not close, latch, or lock and you have to walk through the pool area to get to the rooms in the back. The sink in the bathroom had several dried spots of a blue toothpaste in the sink. The vanity cabinet had streaks of dried white toothpaste down the front, cracks in the door, and water damage in the cabinet. The shower drain had large clumps of hair in the drain. I brought all of this to their attention. The lady at the desk just said "I'm sorry. What room was that in?" And then handed me my receipt. I stopped there because I was exhausted from a long car trip so I was only there for 6 hours to nap, but I definitely will choose somewhere else on my way back!
My room was on the corner near the pool. Honestly a much nicer hotel than all the reviews say. Older well maintained and very nice. Area of town is just fine and very safe. I have stayed here for business and even brought my wife and daughter. Nice stopover on way to 4 corners. The owner is very very nice tell him I said Hi!
It was better than I anticipated… I was pleasantly surprised at the decor of the room and the pool area was very cozy.I felt secure with the parking lot being monitored
I would stay again as I pass through on my road trip. The place was clean and quiet and the staff was professional and polite. Good value for what i needed. They offered a basic breakfast of fruit, pastries, cereal and the like but i was in a hurry on checkout and didn’t try it.
