The SpringHill Suites by Marriott Gallup receives mixed reviews, with praise for its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff, but significant concerns around room maintenance, security, and limited amenities. Recent reviews indicate ongoing issues with room conditions, particularly regarding cleanliness and HVAC functionality, alongside persistent security concerns related to homelessness and truck parking.
Truck parking, easy access off I40, lots of food options nearby. Dont let the old photos fool you, the hot tub/jacuzzi does not exist anymore. You can see where it was, but it is not there in May of 2026. Lots of homeless people wandering around, one cleaned out my trailer toolbox of all it's straps, and a bag for the straps. My fault, should have locked it, but it's a problem. My room could have been cleaner, lots of hair that didn't belong to me. My room, #201, kind of stunk. If management cares, you have a lot of trucks using your parking lot to get dinner, and/or take a break. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, but they all seem to be bad at parking. I've only stayed here two times, 1 night each, and I've seen probably 6 different semi trucks park, not well, but its technically parked, and walk to Golden Corral. When they do this, and one of your guests in a truck shows up, they are forced to park in a less than ideal way, because the dinner guys are forcing them to park poorly. They get checked in, go to the room, meanwhile, dinner guys come back, and leave. Now your guest looks like an idiot, being the only big vehicle in the lot, appearing to be parked like a jackasses, when in actuality, he was forced to park like that. Now, everybody else with semi trucks, or large vehicles, have to do what they can to get in, and the whole thing becomes a mess for the night. If you want to let people park there, who aren't guests, that's your business, but they should park in an orderly fashion. Trucks should be backed up to the fence on the east side of the lot, the truck will be facing west, Marshall's will be out your passenger side window. The first truck should be along the fence on the north side of the lot, again, Marshall's should be along your passenger side. The next truck to arrive, should park right along the first truck, just to the south of him. You can probably fit 8-10 trucks, and the first 2-4 can pull in and turn all the way around, after that, they probably have to back in, but it should be easy, if they are parked the way I described, no blind side backing, only the easy way. Everyone ends up pointing at the exit, if everyone backs all the way up to the fence, there's lots of maneuvering room left for every truck to leave, whenever they want to leave, without damaging someone else's truck.
We were very impressed with this hotel! The staff was amazing! The room was nice and big and very very clean. The breakfast was amazing and probably one of the best breakfasts we have had at a hotel before. As a family I do wish they would’ve had pancakes or waffles just for my kiddos, but everything we had was amazing! Throughly impressed!
This hotel was a significant disappointment. The first room they checked me into #122 when I turned on the A/C the heat came in instead. They were unable to fix it so they switched me to a second room #208, but the keys didn’t work on the second room so they switched me to a third room. The 3rd room #307 was a handicap room which appeared nice at first glance. After getting comfortable I noticed that the bathroom had not been cleaned after the last guest that used the room. There was pee all over the toilet and long black hairs stuck to the walls in the bathroom (I’m bald) shower walls and the shower floor was as filthy the parking lot. There were also cockroaches on the floor all over the room as sen in the picture. The desk staff were very accommodating and friendly however the rooms were very disappointing resulting in only 2 stars. I was told that a manager would reach out to me yet none ever did. I would highly recommend not staying at this hotel.
Check-in went smoothly, temperature of the lobby was nicely warm. Room was clean and smelled good, heater worked well, very comfortable bed, shower worked well. All employees were friendly and gracious.
The hotel was noisy, and I had specifically requested a quiet room. The front desk agent was new and gave me a disturbance room instead. Waste of money.
The hotel is located near shopping, dinning and quick freeway access. The room was clean and modern. Unfortunately the thermostat/ heater did not work in room 412 (unit unplugged and blinking green and red after being plugged in, no power to thermostat). The front desk had to be called at 4am and Mike from the front desk came to the room and could not resolve the issue and stated he would let management know, we were not offered a room change and had to bundle up with extra clothing to keep warm, temp outside was in the mid 20's and the cold could be felt from the window. At check out I spoke with the lady at the front desk and she stated Mike did not leave a note in the log book and stated management would have to review the issue before any type of compensation. It also had a wobbly desk chair, light was burned out for the bed by the window, and minor baseboard damaged in the restroom.
Half-dozen homeless on the corner as I turned in. I parked behind the building, right up outside my room window. As I parked and stepped out (about 0300 in the morning), I was hit up by a beggar that wanted change or dollars. The way he came up behind me could well have caused a police incident. Coffee is just brown water. Terribly weak. Staff says they're using 3 packs and it is still weak, which tells me that management opted for the absolute cheapest (worst) coffee they could find, resulting in a useless, unappealing brown water that has no value to customers.
The evening manager was very friendly and tried her best to assist us. The rooms are in desperate need of a renovation because of the nasty smell and subpar repairs. Also our AC wasn’t working, and someone was paged to check it out. No one showed up :( .The economy of the city seems to be struggling, but Marriott should have the funds to totally give this hotel a major overhaul. I see that Marriott has apologized profusely on other ratings platforms for years about this particular hotel; but obviously, they willingly do nothing to update this pricey hotel. And we deserved a discounted rate due to the broken AC.I strongly do not recommend this hotel; it’s pretty gross.
Clean rooms, friendly staff, rooms are good size. Only restaurants around are fast food but a lot of options. Safeway is close and right off the interstate. Will stay here again.
I booked 2 rooms through booking at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Gallup and prepaid for the rooms using my card on file which I have never had issues with. I received confirmation of payment and the money was removed from my account. When I got to the hotel to check in I was told only one of my rooms was paid for and the second I had to provide payment because the card used was declined (the card number that showed for that room wasn't even mine) prior to them checking me in. When I showed the clerk my receipt the only help I was provided with was "we can't do anything for you, contact Booking". I had no choice but to pay for the room again. At the end of my stay I received 6 different receipts. This was the worst experience I have ever had and I would not recommend others to stay here.
